First off, thank you for agreeing to participate in this study. Remember, your responses are confidential. We will not link them to your name. You must be 18 years old to participate.
Compensation
All students participating in this study will receive a $5 gift card to Perks after they have completed all the questions. The OU Finance Department requires us to give them the name, address, and signature of all participants who receive payment. Please see the research assistant in the lab to fill out this paperwork and receive your gift card.
Explanation of study
The survey will ask you to watch different videos taken from Ohio news organization websites and then answer four brief blocks of questions about each one. Base your responses on the videos you have watched. There are 5 total pages and 23 total questions in the survey. That seems long, but answering them completely will take less than 15-20 minutes. All of the videos are less than two minutes long.
Participation in this survey is voluntary. You may choose not to participate in the survey at any point. You also can pick and choose which questions you respond to. You do not have to answer them all, but we would appreciate it if you would. Even though some of the questions in the survey may be personal in nature, you can be assured that your responses will never be matched with your name.
Risks
Risks for participation are minimal. You may experience some eye or back strain from staring at the computer for 20 minutes, but that's why I've made sure the study is short.
